How Women Compete in the Labour Market
24 May, 2012 – Riga, Latvia - Evita Lune, Partner and Country Manager for Latvia with Pedersen & Partners speaks to the Women in Business Conference on “How women can compete in the labour market and the importance of a first impression.”
As a successful woman in business, Evita Lune spoke about the woman’s role in the labour market and how to avoid critical mistakes in first impressions. “In my work I get to deal with women decision makers as investors, employers who take orders for high level executive search, as well as high level managers who are candidates for vacant positions. I have drawn the conclusion that many companies even prefer to have women as leaders for decision making positions, because they demonstrate the harder, more responsible attitude to work, a higher sense of responsibility, and are able to better manage their time, especially those with children.” With this preference though, she was clear that women are held to a higher burden when considering left impressions and it is here that it is important not to make mistakes.
Her presentation included tips on how to leave the best impressions and covered topics such as self-esteem, wardrobe suggestions and body language.
The conference is held annually to unite women and highlight the importance of women in business. This year the conference was sponsored by Triviums, Maritim Park Hotel, Lilit and Star FM- Radio station. The 2012 speakers lineup included Ilze Znotina, Head of Legal Practice for Deloitte Latvia, Inga Latkovska, Director of PR style, and Ligita Šmeile, Chairman of the Board of Komercizglītības Center.
