June 2025
The British Standards Institution (BSI) hosted the BSI 8th Intelligence Summit, which was held on June 20, 2025, at the JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai and live streamed globally. This year's summit marked BSI's 30th Anniversary in China and convened over 300 industry leaders and professionals to address the development of a sustainable and future-ready global business landscape.
The summit brought together representatives from government, global entities, and industry to discuss themes including ESG-driven strategies for global expansion, establishing digital trust for competitive advantage, and AI roadmaps aligned with evolving ISO standards.
Pedersen & Partners' Global CEO, Gary Williams, delivered a keynote speech titled “Global Expansion: Impact, Trends, and Challenges for Executive Talent”.
The following are key points of his keynote presentation:
Global Expansion Trends for China organizations:
The continued focus on ASEAN with the emergence of LATAM, Middle East, Africa, and India. Europe continues to benefit from the global expansion particularly in Eastern Europe.
Industry Segments at the Forefront of the Expansion:
Sectors include Emerging Technologies, Manufacturing including the emergence of Electric Vehicles, Batteries, and Alternative Energy solutions, as well as Financial Services.
The Importance of Market Understanding, Leadership EQ, and Cultural Fit:
Shared the view of Pedersen & Partners that based upon our experience, the critical success factors from a people perspective for firms expanding into new markets include strong market knowledge, as well as the Leadership and Cultural Fit for leaders to be successful in the market and with the organization.
The summit provided insights from organizations and policymakers, contributing to the discussion on a future-ready global business landscape. We appreciate the invitation from BSI to participate in this event.
